The Night Is His Too
“The day is thine, the night also is thine: thou hast prepared the light and the sun.”
Psalm 74:16 (KJV)
Evenin’, child. Sun’s goin’ down slow over the water tonight, all orange and gold. Sit a minute with me.
Back when I built cabinets, I had a bad habit. I’d lie awake thinkin’ about the joint I didn’t get square or the door that hung a hair crooked. My wife would pat my arm and say, “Ezra, the shop’s closed. Let it be till morning.” She was right. Nothin’ I fretted over at midnight ever got fixed at midnight.
The psalmist says the day belongs to God, and the night does too. That’s a comfort, isn’t it? The same Lord who hung the sun this morning is watchin’ over the dark tonight. You don’t have to keep the night shift. He never clocks out. While you sleep, He’s still holdin’ the whole world together, and He’s still holdin’ you.
So whatever didn’t get finished today, set it down on the workbench. Tomorrow’s a new morning, and He’ll be there before you are. I’m gonna sit here till the first star comes out, then head on in.
Let’s Pray
Father, this day was Yours, and this night is Yours too. I give You what I got done and what I didn’t. Quiet my mind, guard my home, and give me sweet rest. I trust You with the dark. In Jesus’ name, amen.
You’re loved more than you know.
