Be My Arm This Morning

“O LORD, be gracious unto us; we have waited for thee: be thou their arm every morning, our salvation also in the time of trouble.”

Isaiah 33:2 (KJV)

Good mornin’, child. Pull up a chair. The coffee’s hot and the sun’s just now peekin’ over the trees.

When I was a young carpenter, I worked under an old fella who could carry a sheet of plywood up a ladder like it was a dinner plate. One morning I asked him how he did it. He laughed and said, “Son, I don’t. I lean it on my shoulder and let the ladder do half the work.” Took me years to understand he wasn’t just talkin’ about plywood.

Isaiah asks the Lord to be our arm every morning. Not once a year. Not only when the storm hits. Every morning. That means you don’t have to carry today’s load on your own strength. Whatever’s waitin’ for you, the bills, the worry, the person who’s hard to love, the Lord is ready to be the arm under it.

Some mornings I wake up stiff as an old board. Before my feet hit the floor I say, “Lord, be my arm today.” And you know what? He’s never once turned me down.

Let’s Pray

Lord, be my arm this morning. Carry what I can’t, steady what shakes, and help me lean on You before I lean on anything else. Be gracious to me today, in the good hours and the hard ones. In Jesus’ name, amen.

You’re loved more than you know.
